DNF. Made it to ten percent but couldn't handle anymore repetitive info-dumping or clunky dialogue. Hey, say this out loud as if you were speaking to your twin brother: "It was a last ditch effort on my part to take my mind off the brutal, scary, painful transition process." There, didn't that feel natural?
The book felt like it had skipped a number of steps in the editing process. Given that many others have given it 4 and 5 stars, I can only assume that either the writing improves or the sex is really good. I'm not reading on to find out.
I've seen this series compared to Kelly Armstrong and Patricia Briggs. I went into it with that expectation and was brutally, scarily, painfully disappointed.
